About Crofter's Garden Nursery

Crofter's Garden Nursery is located in the mid-coast region of Maine, just off coastal Route 1, midway between Wiscasset and Rockland.  We are currently growing decorative trees, fruit & nut trees, woody shrubs (including Maine blueberries!) and perennials.

You can visit the nursery in Waldoboro by phoning ahead to (207)832-5700.

What are we doing now?

Because our business has developed and changed over time and we have increased demand from our wholesale customer base, we have made the decision to forgo the Farmer's Markets that we had participated in in the past.  Retail customers are welcome to phone and make an appointment to come by the nursery, but the nursery is closed to casual visitors.  We hope you understand that increasing our two acre nursery to a twelve acre nursery is a time consuming job that requires our full attention.

Our wholesale grafted Japanese Maple sale is in full swing and we expect to be wrapping that up in March.  Wholesalers have ordered over 1800 trees from us that we will be shipping dormant to small nurseries all over the country.   This year we were offering almost 40 varieties and sold out of so many of them.  We will, of course, have some available for retail sale at the nursery this year, along with new offerings!

We hope to have another sale at the nursery this year on Memorial Day Weekend and will keep you posted on which day it will be.  Thanks to all our customers, last years sale was a huge success and we hope to follow it with another!

We are looking forward to this coming season and are particularly looking forward to seeing you all again soon!

Who We Are

Crofter's Garden Nursery is owned and operated by Andy Kennedy, originally from Western Scotland.  Andy moved to the United States after marrying the then, Kristin Hunnibell and continued his career as a registered nurse here in the US.  When a work related injury required him to give up his operating room duties, he decided to pursue his passion for gardening.  With help for the heavy work, he has propagated and grown thousands of plants all hardy to the coastal Maine winters we experience.  Andy welcomes inquiries and suggestions from customers who are looking for unusual or special plants.  If we don't have it, chances are, we can find it!

About Our Name - Crofter's Garden

What is a crofter?  A crofter is someone who farms a croft, a small farm generally between two and eight acres and usually in the West of Scotland.  With Andy coming from the West of Scotland, it only seemed appropriate to name our small nursery, The Crofter's Garden Nursery.
